Members of BMS World Mission Team are preparing for an UK tour, which starts later this month and will continue for 8 weeks till late June. Over the past six months several teams of 18 to 25 year-olds have lived for God doing mission work overseas.

Before members of a BMS World Mission team go overseas, they receive one month training, so they are prepared when they work alongside the BMS mission staff or partner churches. The work they do varies greatly - they could be teaching English to locals, social activities with children, some local church projects etc.

All 41 members of this year’s BMS World Mission team will gather next week (13-15 April) at BMS’ International Mission Centre (IMC) to share their unique experiences. After this reunion they will receive once again training for about a week and will also prepare for the up-coming tour in UK. During this tour 80 churches in Scotland, Wales as well as England will be visited and the members will take part in over 1,000 events. The purpose of this tour is to promote BMS mission work and to share their experiences.

A BMS member who worked in the favelas of São Paulo (South Brazil) said during the flight back to UK, "It really has been an amazing experience, and we are really looking forward to the tour, where we can share our experience with the churches we visit. A massive thank you to you all for your prayer and support over these last six months – it has been such a blessing. We have been kept safe and well and feel extremely privileged to have had such a fantastic experience."

BMS World Mission is actively working with personnel, partners and co-operating agencies in over 30 countries worldwide. BMS is involved across four continents: Asia, Africa, the Americas and Europe. BMS does its mission in sprawling cities such as São Paulo, but also in areas where tribal groups live, for example northern Thailand. BMS works culturally sensitive to each place, setting up activities according to the needs of an area.

For the 2005-2006 programme 8 Teams will be required, and thus far BMS has recruited thirty-one 18-25 years-olds. Those recruited will receive training from September of this year. The chosen locations for the Teams to do next year's mission programmes in are: Brazil North, Brazil South, Bulgaria, India Delhi, India Kolkata, Thailand, Trinidad and Uganda.
