Will Liz finally find out in season 3 of "The Blacklist" why she and Red are constantly connected?

When the show's season 2 finale aired last month, Liz Keen (Megan Boone) finally recalled several important facts about her real identity as her memory was triggered when she shot the corrupt Attorney General Tom Connolly (Reed Birney). Apparently, Liz was the one who killed her own father when she was a child to defend her mother, Katarina. But what happened to Liz's mother after that?

Fans of the show are also wondering why Red (James Spader) has a photo of Liz's mother in his apartment. It could be a clue about the connection between him and Liz.

Viewers of the show used to think that Red and Liz will be romantically involved with each other. However, she seems to have real feelings for her fake husband Tom Keen (Ryan Eggold).

In a previous interview with Zap2it, Boone admitted that she is also unsure about what her character really feels about Red.

"I think people see how much Red loves her, and it is a confusing kind of love," the actress shared. "I think that will have to be answered. How do you love someone that deeply -- no matter what the circumstances, but especially when the circumstances are mysterious?"

However, Boone believes that Liz's love for Red is not romantic. Could it be because of their connection with her mother? iDigital Times reported several theories about their relationship. One of the suppositions is that Red could be her real father, while another theory is that Red and Katarina are siblings. It means that there is a possibility that Red has been protecting Liz all this time because they are blood-related.

Will viewers finally see Katarina when "The Blacklist" returns for season 3 this fall on NBC?
