Bishop to lead youth pilgrimage to Taizé

The Taizé community provides a space for young people from around the world to spend time in prayer and reflection

The Bishop of Lynn will be leading young people from the Diocese of Norwich on a pilgrimage to Taizé this summer.

Taizé is an ecumenical monastic community in central France that welcomes young Christians from around the world to a time of prayer and meditation.

The pilgrimage is for people between the ages of 15 and 29 and will take place from 10 to 19 August.

Participants will spend their time camping and enjoying community life as they share in food, worship and discussion.

They will not be the only ones at Taizé during their pilgrimage, but will be joined by other young Christian visitors to the community.

Bishop Jonathan Meyrick said there was great value in young people experiencing life amongst the Taizé community.

"There is a great deal that we will be able to take away from the pilgrimage to the Taizé community," said Bishop Meyrick.

"There are the benefits of common life, the beautiful sung worship and the strong emphasis on being still in God's presence.

"For many young people today, this can be a challenge in such a fast and busy world."
