Ralph Lauren has expanded its fashion line to include a tech shirt equipped with health sensors. The Polo Tech which will be available to the public by 2015, and has biosensing fibers woven onto the fabric.

The description in the company's website states: "Biosensing silver fibers are woven directly into the core of the shirt. (It) provides comprehensive biometric data in real time directly to your smartphone or tablet."

Using the shirt, one can monitor their workout data including heart rate, burned calories, breathing rate, stress rate, intensity of movement, among others. The company also claims that the "moisture-wicking compression fabric increases blood circulation and muscle recovery."

In an interview with New York Times, David Lauren, the executive vice president for advertising, marketing, and corporate communications, said that the company wants to be able to make technology applicable to one's life in a refined and comfortable way, with no device that needs to be attached.

"Everyone is exploring wearable tech watches and headbands and looking at cool sneakers," the publication quotes the executive as saying. "We skipped to what we thought was new, which is apparel. We live in our clothes."

The ball boys at the US Open Tennis Championship get to have a first-hand experience at sporting the body-hugging black shirt with a prominent Polo logo emblazoned on the left chest.

The shirts are produced alongside Canadian company OM, known for its biometric smartwear. Aside from Polo Tech, the fashion company also plans to introduce tech-infused dress shirts next year, the NY Times reported.
