'Big Bang Theory' cancelled or renewed? Season 10 will be last for CBS show

"The Big Bang Theory" creator Steve Molaro announced on April 23 that the hit series' tenth season will be its last.

Molaro and co-creator Chuck Lorre recently signed a three-year renewal with CBS, and do not plan to extend the series beyond that point.

"I'm going to move forward along with Chuck that 10 is the end unless we're told otherwise," Molaro told The Hollywood Reporter.

"The mindset is it's going to be the 10 and then we'll see what happens after that."

He also emphasized that more so than a certain number of seasons, his primary interest is in the characters completing their arc.

"My concern is that we do it right and we end this show in a way that is as befitting of these characters that we respect and love," he said. "As long as we can have the opportunity to end it in a way that serves them all properly, that's my concern-- more than the number of seasons."

Season seven of the hit sitcom ends May 15, and Molaro shared some spoilers for the final few episodes.

"There is a lot of proposal discussion," he revealed. "Within all the characters, there will be at least one more proposal and there is also some discussion of potential living arrangements, but I'm going to be vague about the rest."

Leonard and Penny have discussed marriage several times, and it's possible that the couple may finally move forward with a wedding. One thing there won't be, however, is a baby for Howard and Bernadette.

"I don't think any of us are interested in having any babies on the show anytime soon," Molaro shared. "They're working through the things that marriage brings."

Some castmembers do not have contracts for the full three-year term yet, but Molaro said that did not impact his decision to have a "cliffhanger" ending at the end of this season. He also said that he expects all of the core cast to return.

"I have to move forward assuming everyone is going to be there. I have no reason to think they won't be," he stated.

"The Big Bang Theory" airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. on CBS.
