Bible Society to Hold Political Fringe Meetings – “Exploring Faith, Politics & the Media”

|PIC1|The Bible Society has arranged a number of fringe meetings entitled “Mind your Language – Exploring Faith, Politics and the Media”. The meetings will focus on how people can communicate better and speak effectively within the political agenda.

The aim of the Bible Society’s meetings is to challenge this autumn’s political conferences to halt the “spin cycle” in politics.

The Bible Society’s Parliamentary Officer, Dr David Landrum said, “Christians need to start thinking about the language they use. This is essential if we are to successfully speak the truth with grace in public life.”

He continued, “As the first part of a broader process to explore the political language of Christians, the party conference fringe events will look at the role of popular media in politics.”

The fringe meetings will take place in partnership with a number of Christian political bodies including, the Liberal Democrat Christian Forum, the Christian Socialist Movement and the Conservative Christian Fellowship.

Blackpool will host the Liberal Democrat Conference event on Wednesday 21 September, Brighton the Labour Party Conference on Monday 26 September, and finally on Tuesday 4 October the Conservative Conference will also take place in Blackpool.
