For people who are looking to make their Bible-reading sessions more personal and intimate, a new app called ToYouBible might just help.

According to Charisma News, ToYouBible is considered by the American Bible Society as one of the 11 most creative and innovative Bible apps available since it customises thousands of Bible passages to include the reader's name among other personal information.

For example, if the Bible reader is named Susan, the popular verse John 3:16 would read: "For God so loved Susan, that he gave his one and only Son, that Susan believing in him should not perish, but have eternal life."

The app even includes the user's mother and father's names, children's names, and spouse's name, if applicable, then tailor-fits the names to make certain Bible verses more personal and relatable.

One of the app's creators, Gregory Ijiwola, Ph.D., who is also an evangelical pastor and a Moody Theological Seminary alumnus, said their main goal is to make the Bible-reading experience more meaningful and relevant to their users.

"We believe the Bible is God's letter to humanity on his love and plans for us and it contains the answer to all of life's questions," he said. "However, when people read it, the words and promises of the Bible oftentimes seem distant and meant for people who lived thousands of years ago."

"While using sound hermeneutical principles and staying true to the original text, we want to use this app to liven up Bible reading by making it read like a letter to the individual with their names directly in it," he said.

The ToYouBible App, which is also tagged as "The Bible That Reads in Your Name," is currently available in both iOS and Android versions.
