Ben Seewald gives more tough love: sometimes love is telling someone what they don't want to hear

Ben Seewald, the deeply religious husband of 19 Kids and Counting star Jessa Duggar, is known to give "tough love" to people, and often preaches the word of God not to gain popularity, but to share the truth.

Seewald considers it the responsibility of the true believers of Christ to tell people about God's word, because if Christians really love people, then they will not withhold the truth. He referenced the Bible verse 2 Corinthians 13:5, which encourages Christians to reflect on their motives to spread the word of God. Is it to promote one's self or to honour His name?

"Sometimes love is telling someone what they don't want to hear, what they need to hear, even if they'll get angry with you for telling them, because you love them too much not to do so. You tell them because you care about them. Open rebuke is better than secret love," he wrote on his Facebook page.

Seewald said people often get swayed by culture, which tells them to follow their hearts. But the heart without God is prone to mistakes, he warned. He quoted the Bible verse Jeremiah 17:9 which says: "The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?"

Seewald added that people are often too blind to see just how much people love and care for them, and people actually need God in order to see love and truth for what they really are.

"You do so much for them. You tell them what they need to hear. They think you are hating on them," lamented Seewald. "Couldn't be further from the truth. Parents out there...parents that care...ya hearing me? Don't lose hope, just keep on loving and hope in God. He makes the blind eyes see."
