Ben Seewald, the husband of 19 Kids and Counting star Jessa Duggar, is challenging people to become more selfless and put Christ in the centre of their lives.

In a Facebook post, Seewald said that Christians, who think eternally, should always be reminded of what's really important.

"Remember that this life is like a vapor, and will soon pass away. But eternity - is, well, forever," he said. "Will you waste your precious time here by promoting yourself and earthly wealth and interests while all around you people are agonizing, dying, and going to Hell?"

Seewald then asked what Christians would do if Jesus walked by their businesses and asked them to follow Him, just like what Jesus did with the fishermen and brothers Simon and Andrew, as well as James the son of Zebedee. All three men left their lives to follow Jesus, and Seewald asked if Christians today would do the same.

"Would you say, 'I am too busy to follow you at the moment. You see, I'm saving up for a vacation, and a new car and bigger house.' When the old car and house may do just fine?" he asked.

But he clarified that he is not urging Christians to become irresponsible, and he cited Paul as an example. "Paul worked to support himself. He made tents," he said. "My point is, who are you living for? Are you making money for God, His kingdom and His glory? Or are you building your own earthly kingdom?"

Seewald warned that there is every reason to fear when one's heart is only in their careers, hobbies, or anything other than Christ. He shared Matthew 7:21-22 which tells Christians that not everybody who acknowledges God as God and does good deeds has the right to enter Heaven.

"Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity," the verses read.
