Will Michael Keaton reprise his iconic role in the 1988 film Beetlejuice anytime soon?

According to an October article posted on The Wrap website, the sequel to Tim Burton's legendary film will be in production in the coming days. However, no other details except from that confirmation had been given about the said movie project, and no scheduled airing date had been given until now.

But through an interview with MTV several months back, Keaton reportedly shared that he and Burton already made casual plans for the said sequel, and that he was keen to do the iconic role again for the second time.

"I've emailed Tim a couple of times, talked to the writer a couple of times, but all really, really, preliminary stuff until relatively recently. I always said that's the one thing I'd like to do again, if I ever did anything again. But it kind of required Tim to be involved in some way or another," Keaton declared.

On the other hand, Beetlejuice's other lead star Winona Ryder also expressed her intentions to join the project once again. As the teenage goth named Lydia Deetz, Ryder said that she is excited to be a part of the second installment even if a lot of people were telling her not to do it.

"It's a very precious movie to people. So there are a lot of people like, 'DON'T,'" Ryder said in an interview with The Daily Beast.

For the 42-year-old actress, her role in Beetlejuice is considered to be one of the highlights of her career. "I love Lydia so much. She was such a huge part of me. I would be really interested in what she is doing 27 years later ... I'm so associated with it. I think it gave me my career," she added.

There is no word yet about the Beetlejuice 2's actual date of filming, as well as its scheduled release.
