"Attack on Titan" season 2 is expected to premiere in February. Fans are just days away before the month steps in but there's still no word from the people in charge about the release of the anime's much-awaited sophomore season.

This had media outlets thinking that it may not be out by February after all. As fans will recall, the anime was agreed to not be released until the manga is four arcs ahead of its series adaptation. The print is two arcs in so there are still two more left.

Apart from a missing release date, there's also the worry that "Attack on Titan" season 2 will be the anime's last as well. According to Design & Trend, 60 percent of the "Attack on Titan" manga is already done.

The first season covered 34 chapters and basically four story arcs. The aforementioned site reveals that there are still 27 volumes to go, which will eventually be covered by the new season of the anime and will mark the end of the manga.

That being said, it is highly likely that "Attack on Titan" season 2 will wrap things up.

There's another rumor, however, that the new season will actually be less about the manga and more of an original story. Reports say it will introduce Titans not featured in its source material, one of which may even be deemed the most terrifying of them all.

The Titan in question will allegedly look like an ape but has the abilities to talk, unlike the Titans fans have seen kill and eat in the "Attack on Titan" manga and anime. This giant may actually be the smartest of them all as well.

Word on the street is that "Attack on Titan" season 2 will also reveal the true identity of the fear-eliciting Colossal Titan as well as the armored Titan.

The season will also reportedly focus on the monsters being able to break through Wall Rose and the Reiss family, who have the ability to transform into Titans, being ousted from the throne.
