Apple Inc. is set for another groundbreaking event scheduled to take place less than a week from now.  The tech giant recently made the official announcement after sending out the invites to a selected group of media and several important guests for the event.

The invitation came with the caption "It's been way too long," and informed guests that the special keynote address will be held on Oct. 16 at the Infinite Loop Campus in Cupertino, California. This is the same venue where the company launched their previous flagship phones iPhone 5s and iPhone 6c a year ago.  It is noticeably smaller compared to the Flint Center for the Performing Arts place where the new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus were launched last Sept. 9.

Analysts and gadget watchers are expecting to see the company unveil the reported new models from their iPad line. According to rumors, the new iPads will come with the Touch ID fingerprint sensors, just like the two new iPhones.  Also, there are speculations about the possible release of the alleged 27-inch iMac that comes with the company's signature high-resolution Retina display that was earlier offered in iPads.

Aside from all these devices, Apple Inc. is also expected to launch the new software upgrade dubbed as the OS X Yosemite. This is known as the company's next-generation operating system after the previous OS X Mavericks.

The reveal of the innovative Apple Pay mobile payment system, meant for iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus, could also be included in the event next week.

The Oct. 16 event will start at exactly 10 a.m. Pacific time and 1 p.m. Eastern time.  The scheduled keynote address from Apple will have a live stream broadcast on their official website.
