Technology giant Apple Inc has rejected an application for its iPhone in which users are encouraged to superimpose their head on an image of Jesus.

The “Me So Holy” app was proposed for the Apple store and features an image of Jesus Christ whose face can be replaced by that of the user.

However Apple has rejected the app citing a breach of Section 3.3.12 of the iPhone agreement which says, “Applications must not contain any obscene, pornographic, offensive or defamatory content or materials of any kind (text, graphics, images, photographs, etc.), or other content or materials that in Apple’s reasonable judgement may be found objectionable by iPhone or iPod touch users.”

Apple has rejected a number of other apps in recent times on similar grounds. American rock band Nine Inch Nails was denied permission by Apple to release an update allowing users to download their music.

However this decision was subsequently overturned following a Twitter campaign by band leader Trent Reznor.

Developer Lil’ Shark was also had an app called “The Animalizer” rejected. “The Animalizer” allowed users to scale and crop photographs of themselves or other people and put them on the body of an animal.
