When Apple unveiled their latest "innovation" on the industry standard earphones — dubbed "Airpods" — a lot of consumers were not that quick to jump on the bandwagon as the device apparently does have its shortcomings.

Users who do want to purchase the new Airpods — mostly because they had to as the iPhone 7 did not come with a standard 3.5mm headphone jack — are in for more disappointments as Apple has now announced that they will not be able to roll out the product this month as intended.

The brand new Airpods were recently unveiled during the company's September launch event along with the highly anticipated new iPhone. The product, however, was to be sold separately at a rather steep cost of $160 per pair.

Aside from the ludicrous price for a pair of earphones, the wireless device also only sported a five-hour battery life, which means that it needs to be constantly placed back into its holder to recharge.

Some users have also griped about its look and how it can easily fall off of someone's ear and get lost. Because of its wireless design, users also won't be able to use a splitter to share songs on their phones with other music enthusiasts.

As for the delay, Apple had not really presented a detailed explanation for its decision and only mentioned that they needed "a little more time" to polish their product before releasing it.

"We don't believe in shipping a product before it's ready, and we need a little more time before Airpods are ready for our customers," an Apple spokesperson mentioned.

The company also did not mention when it would be releasing the device following the delay announcement. The official Airpod's webpage still lists that the device would be available in October, so fans would likely just have to wait until Apple makes a new announcement about its new release date.
