Previously, it has been reported that Sony Mobile decided to expand its Android Marshmallow update to include other versions of the Xperia Z2 and Z3 family. However, in the updated list of devices, the Xperia Z3 Tablet has been left out.

Sony Mobile seems to be remedying this oversight, as recent reports suggest that the Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact is also now being updated to Android Marshmallow.

According to Xperia Blog, The new update is already rolling out to the Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact, on both the two versions of LTE (SGP621, SGP641) and Wi-Fi only variants (SGP611, SGP612). The new Android Marshmallow platform updates the Compact slate's build to build version 23.5.A.0.570.

The OTA notifications are rolling out, but users can manually check out if the update is already available for their devices by refreshing the System Update tab in the Settings and About Device options. Meanwhile, those who are more tech-savvy but haven't received the OTA update notification yet can manually flash their Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact, since the FTF firmware files are already available online.

The Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact is the latest Sony Mobile flagship to be updated to Android Marshmallow. Prior to the update, only the base models of the Xperia Z2 and the Xperia Z3 were included in the rollout of the full Android Marshmallow update, since the two models were included in the Android Concept beta program from Sony Mobile. Recently, the company also decided to roll out the full Android platform to other iterations in the Xperia Z2 and Z3 lineups.

Prior to the update, the Android Marshmallow platform was first rolled out to the more recent flagships of the Sony Mobile Xperia family such as the Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z4 lineups.

The full version of Android Marshmallow brings a number of tweaks and improvements to the devices, as well as introducing new features from the stock ROM of Google.
