Android 5.0 Lollipop arrives for Samsung Galaxy S4 Spark LTE Version, Sony Xperia handsets on Sprint

Sprint continues to roll out Android 5.0 Lollipop to its devices, with the Samsung Galaxy S4 Spark LTE as the latest recipient of Google's newest operating system. The update will be dispatched over the air so it may not instantly reach all Sprint users who own the handset.

A notification should pop up regarding the update. If it hasn't, Sprint customers with the 2013 Samsung flagship can manually check for updates in the handset's settings to see if Android 5.0 Lollipop can already be downloaded.

Sprint's Android Lollipop update comes two months after Samsung started rolling it out to the device. Although it came behind schedule, Samsung Galaxy S4 Spark users will now be able to enjoy the new Material Design, which dips the device into vibrant animations and colors.

The size of the update is not specified but being the original build (which, by the way, comes with version number L720TVPUCOD1), Android 5.0 Lollipop is expected to take up about 1 GB of space on the device. Users need to make sure to clear up some before going through the Lollipop makeover. Furthermore, the battery should be at least 50 percent charged. This will be enough for the phone to complete the whole transition process.

Apart from a good-looking interface, the Samsung Galaxy S4 Spark, which debuted with Android Jellybean, will see improvements in performance and battery life.

Sony, on the other hand, is also working round the clock to gussy up its Xperia lineup. The tech firm's waterproof offerings such as the Xperia Z1, Xperia Z1 Compact, Xperia Z3 Dual and Xperia Z Ultra should be running Android 5.0.1 Lollipop at the moment.

The Sony Xperia T2 Ultra and Xperia C3 are next on the list to get the update. There are also reports that Sony is prepping Android 5.1 Lollipop for the Xperia Z1 this month as well as to other devices like the Xperia Z Ultra Google Play Edition. Handsets like the Xperia Z, Xperia ZR, Xperia ZL, Xperia Z1s, Xperia, Z3v, Xperia Z3 Tablet, Xperia Tablet Z and Xperia Z22 Tablet are also lined up to get the newer update.
