After Apple announced the release of its latest line of iPhone 6 devices last week, Android users will also get good news as the Android L is set to be launched sometime soon.

According to the news posted by Tech Times, Google tapped HTC to build the Nexus 9 tablet.

The report stated that HTC has scheduled a media event on Oct. 8. Dubbed as "Double Exposure," the tech company is expected to release the HTC One M8 Eye, which is a stand-alone camera, as well as the HTC Eye line of smartphones. Speculations are rife about the unveiling of the Nexus 9 with Android L device during the same event.

Android fans have been expecting the release of Android L sometime this year. Sources claim that the Android L had been available since June 25 for the developers, but the public can only get a hold of it sometime this Fall.

The latest Android OS is considered as the biggest mobile operating system update that Google has made since 2008. One of its most prominent additions is the new Material Design feature, which allows the interface to become more animated and colorful. It also makes the shadows and 3D effects become more insightful.

Android L, also known as Android 5.0 L, will also have a 64-bit processor, and will use a new runtime called ART instead of the old Dalvik. In addition, the new notifications bar will be given an improved functionality as well as a better color scheme.

Not all mobile devices will be eligible for the Android 5.0 L update. Only those devices under Google can enjoy the new operating system, including the Google Play Edition, Nexus, as well as the soon-to-be released Android One.

Some of the mobile gadgets that can support the latest Android update include the reported Motorola Nexus 6 as well as the said HTC Nexus 9.
