Android 4.4 KitKat release date with Nexus 5 and Nexus 10 2 on October 14 at Google's Big Bang Event 2013?

Google will be hosting its 2013 Big Bang event on October 14, which is expected to be the platform to unveil its upgraded Android 4.4 KitKat mobile operating system in partnership with Nestle and reveal the highly anticipated Nexus 5 device.

Hershey and Nestle are currently running a large promotional campaign in the run up to the release of the Android 4.4 KitKat OS. Customers can find KitKat bars wrapped with promotional ads for Android. Lucky winners can get their hands on a free Nexus 7 device or receive $25 worth of Google Play Store throughout the campaign, which is expected to last until the launch of the OS in October 14.

The Android 4.4 Kitkat will feature an updated revamped user interface, improve battery life of the device, improve optimization of old Android mobile devices, and better performance.

Nexus 4

Meanwhile, the upcoming Nexus 5 is all the buzz, as rumors point to a October 14 release date as well. Google is expected to launch its next-generation Nexus device pre-installed with the all new Android 4.4 KitKat . The new device will be manufactured by LG, and will feature a 5 inch display with full HD resolution, a 2.3 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 2 GB RAM, 13 megapixel camera, LTE connectivity, and 2300 mAh battery.

Also rumored to launch with the upgraded Android system is the Nexus 10 2 tablet. Although no official release date has been announced by Google, the device is expected to launch very soon. Last month, Wall Street Journal's Emir Efrait tweeted a hint about the device's release date. "Expect to see new 10-inch Nexus 10 Android tablet (made by @Samsung) in the near future, Google's @sundarpichai tells me."

10-inch tablet will also feature a 1080p HD touchscreen, Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 CPU, and 4GB RAM. It will likely be available with the option of 32GB or 64GB.

Last month, retailers have dropped the price of the current Nexus 10 32GB model to clear its stock and prepare for the upcoming new device. The Nexus 10 2 did not launch at the IFA Berlin 2013 as hoped, but it is likely to launch before November, possibly even on October 14, just in time for the Black Friday sales and holiday shopping period.

The Nexus 10 2 will not be manufactured by Samsung this time, but instead by Asus, which manufactures the smaller Nexus 7 device. The currently Nexus 10 features a 10-inch screen with 2560x1600 resolution in Corning Gorilla Glass 2. . It is available with 16GB or 32GB internal storage, 2 GB ram, and features Dual-core A15 processor.
