American Idol's Colton Dixon signs to EMI CMG/Sparrow Records

He proved he had talent when he came seventh place in the finals of American Idol Season 11.

Now Colton Dixon has just announced his next step post-show after signing to EMI CMG/Sparrow Records.

Sparrow is home to Christian artists like Steven Curtis Chapman, Chris Tomlin, Kari Jobe and Mandisa.

Dixon spoke openly throughout his time on American Idol about his Christian faith and he recently met up with Brandon Heath to share their love for God in a song.

Writing on his Facebook page about the song, Dixon said: "Wrote with Brandon Heath today about how if we truly understood the love that God shows us, we would go crazy.haha in other words ... it's impossible to understand."

He added: "Grace isn't something that is normal to us. It's impractical in a practical world, which is why it is not of this world.=)"

Dixon announced his new record deal via Twitter.

"Can't wait to see what my future holds!!!" he shared.

His new song "Never Gone" will be out on iTunes on 25 September.
