'American Horror Story' season 4 spoilers: Neil Patrick Harris to join cast on 'Freak Show'?

TV addicts probably missed "How I Met Your Mother" actor Neil Patrick Harris after the aforementioned series ended earlier this year. However, he may be back as a guest star in the fourth season of "American Horror Story".

Neil Patrick Harris could be back in the small screen as a guest in the upcoming "Freak Show" of the hit TV series "American Horror Story." According to the actor himself in his interview in EW Radio, he sent a letter to the show creator Ryan Murphy asking him if he could appear in the show.

"I wrote a letter to Ryan asking if I can be in it, even though I wasn't even available to be in it...I just love those series and Coven was fantastic...to do one that involves any kind of freak, circus nonsense is going to be so unsettling to watch. Can't wait!" he reportedly said.

Ryan Murphy replied to Harris' request by a simple yet reassuring tweet. "@ActuallyNPH of course you can be on Freak Show! I have a role I think you'd love," he posted.

Neil Patrick Harris previously won an Emmy for his role as Bryan Ryan, Will's (Matthew Morrison) nemesis in the first season of Glee.

Meanwhile, "American Horror Story: Freak Show" is set in the 1950s and centers on one of the last remaining freak shows in America. Jessica Lange's character is the showrunner of the freak show, which features unusual characters played by Sarah Paulson, Angela Bassett, Kathy Bates, Frances Conroy and Evan Peters.

There have been very few details on the upcoming season dubbed as "Freak Show", but this confirmed that the filming for the next season has started and hinted that the "Freak Show" is something to really look forward to.

"American Horror Story: Freak Show" is slated to debut in October on FX. However, the network has not yet announced a specific air date.
