It looks like AMD still has another Polaris 10 graphics card to release this year before it moves on to the next-generation Vega 10. This video card will be the AMD Radeon RX 490.

The graphics processing unit was part of the 2016 promotion of the Sunnyvale-based semiconductor company, according to Wccftech.

The purported AMD Radeon RX 490 was also spotted in the on the official websites of both AMD and the AMD-certified budget motherboard manufacturer Sapphire.

It was also part of the 400 series nomenclature in a leaked slide. Specifications-wise, the graphics card was advertised to support seamless 4K gaming.

It is yet to be clarified if the AMD Radeon RX 490 will be built on the Polaris 10 architecture or the yet to be released Vega 10 technology.

The latter is expected to be released by the end of the year and that it will be used on AMD Radeon RX 500 series as opposed to the RX 400 lineup.

This spawned reports that the AMD Radeon RX 490 will be released next month as the company's final and most powerful Polaris 10 variant.

The Vega 10 will then debut in December with a set of new graphics cards. Interestingly, Videocardz lists the card as a Vega 10-built GPU.

Meanwhile, Wccftech also reports that AMD is planning to release revisions of the RX 400 graphics cards early next year, with AMD employing a modified nomenclature for the updated versions.

This means that the refreshed versions of the AMD Radeon 480, RX 470, and the RX 460 will be referred to as Radeon RX 485, RX 475, and RX 465, respectively.

Whether or not AMD opt to release the rumored AMD Radeon RX 490 with these video cards, as it will certainly fit in well there, remains to be seen.

For now, there is no clear information as far as AMD's plans about the Radeon RX 490 is concerned, so fans will have to be patient and wait for the company's official word.
