Solid details are very scarce these days when it comes to "The Amazing Spider-Man 3" movie, especially since it's been bumped back two years, to be shown in 2018 instead of the initially planned 2016 release. So fans are turning to the spin-off, "Sinister Six," which is scheduled to roll-out ahead of the next Spidey movie.

The question many fans are asking is, can Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) be truly absent from a film featuring his alter-ego's nemeses – a whole group of them? Many avid followers can't think how. Noremac220 of Movie Pilot, for instance, is quite vocal about his disagreement with the producers' approach, saying, "First off, Let me start off by saying I am totally against the Sinister Six movie coming out. Mostly because it is rumored that spider-man will not appear in the film."

At any rate, no one is really sure at this point if Spider-Man will truly be absent from the "Sinister Six" film. Garfield's remark in an interview with the Toronto Sun last month makes one wonder and ponder.

He said, "I know more than I'm allowed to say right now. I can say I'm really excited about Drew Goddard, who's going to be writing and directing The Sinister Six movie. And whether I'm involved in that or not is kind of immaterial."

The Sinister Six is originally composed of supervillains Doctor Octopus, Vulture, Kraven the Hunter, Electro, Mysterio, and Sandman. But it is uncertain whether these will comprise the big screen version of the gang. Spider-Man already faced several enemies in the earlier movies, which could be a precursor to their appearance in the upcoming villain-centric film, including Electro (Jamie Foxx), Rhino (Paul Giamatti), and Green Goblin (Dane DeHaan).

According to The Global Dispatch, DeHaan had already signed on for the "Sinister Six" movie. There are speculations that Norman Osborne, played by Chris Cooper, will be brought back to life. Felicia Hardy, played by Felicity Jones, is also predicted to come back as Black Cat, while Michael Massee will play The Gentleman.

The Gentleman, according to ASM director Marc Webb, is the man in the hat – the man in the shadows seen via a lightning during the first film.

He is quoted by Collider as saying, "The man in the hat is now, we think of him as The Gentleman who is a benefactor of the Sinister Six. My inkling of it is that they all emerge from Oscorp and that they are corralled by The Gentleman... they are sort of the mercenaries of Oscorp and the most unruly, beastly set of characters."

Alfred Molina, who played Doc Ock in "Spider-Man 2" (2004), told Collider in another interview that he had a wonderful time playing the character and he'd "do it again in a heartbeat." But whether or not he will reprise his role as Doctor Octopus remains to be seen.

"Sinister Six" is scheduled to be shown in theaters on Nov. 11, 2016, while "The Amazing Spider-Man 3" will roll out on May 4, 2018.
