5 Bible verses to uplift you when you're worried about money

The topic of home ownership is one that frequently arises in conversations that I have with my friends now that we're all in our mid-to-late twenties. For a few of them, the prospect of owning their own home is one that is the source of a great deal of worry. With house prices in London, where I live, far beyond reach and headlines proclaiming that most of our generation won't be able to move into their own homes until they're 30 plus, it's no wonder so manyin my age group are stressed about it all.

Worries about money aren't restricted to the younger generation, research shows that they peak around the 50-64 age bracket and keep six out of every ten adults awake at night, according to the CreditCards.com.

With money, we can so often fail to see eye-to-eye with God on how much is enough. Not necessarily because we're greedy but because we worry about how we will be able to support our families, and how we'll be able to afford the essential items we need. It's worth taking some time every now and then to reflect on how our financial concerns can be dealt with in the context of our faith.

In contrast to most of my friends, I've been quite relaxed about the immediate (and not so immediate) inability to own my own home. I know that this absence of worry is about more than the fact that I've never prioritised it, it's also to do with being reassured that God cares about me and He'll take care of me.

While you will need to take additional pragmatic steps to address any serious money troubles, money worries can still remain whether or not we need to take drastic action. If your financial fears are causing you to lose sleep each night, read over these five Bible verses and be comforted by the knowledge that God values you and He will provide for you.

Philippians 4:19 - And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus. (Pixabay)
Matthew 6:31-34 - So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. (Pixabay)
Luke 12:23-24 - For life is more than food, and the body more than clothes. Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds! (Pixabay)
1 Peter 5:6-7 - Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time.Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. (Pixabay)
Hebrews 13:5-6 - Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you."So we say with confidence, "The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?" (Pixabay)
