Being let down hurts, most especially when it's by the people we love. Being abandoned, rejected and betrayed by your spouse, family and close friends is something that nobody in this world would want to experience ever in their entire life. Sadly, we all experience this one way or another.

The Bible says that our God is the "God of all comfort" (see 2 Corinthians 1:3-4). He is the God who sees all the pain and suffering we go through before it happens, while it happens, and after it happens. He is the same God who knows how you feel and what you are thinking while you are facing unpleasant situations and circumstances that you would've wished that you were spared of.

Through it all, He is the same God who walks with you through your pain, and desires to lavish His love and comfort on you so that you could rise up and comfort others with the comfort that you received from Him. Our God is a loving and compassionate God who decided to mingle with mortal men in Christ Jesus, so that He could fully and effectively show us His loving and forgiving nature, and save us from eternal suffering (see John 3:16; Jn 14:8-10; 2 Cor. 5:18-20).

Do you need comfort because those you love have let you down? Here are 5 Bible verses that you can read and meditate on to receive the comfort that you need from God.

Zephaniah 3:17 – "The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing."

Nahum 1:7 – "The Lord is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in him."

Psalm 34:8-9 – "Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him. Fear the Lord, you his holy people, for those who fear him lack nothing."

Psalm 91:14-16 – ""Because he loves me," says the Lord, "I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name. He will call on me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation.""

Revelation 21:3-4 – "And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, "Look! God's dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. 'He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death' or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.""
