Write God a thank you

A new social media platform has been launched to give Christians a place to express their thanks for all the good things God is doing in their lives.

WriteGodAThankYou.com lets users write messages of thanks for things like friends, family and work.

The messages can be easily shared with friends on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Tumblr, and Google+.

Users can also create private gratitude lists and prayer journals.

Founder Darin Garcia is inspired by research by UC Davis psychologist Robert Emmons and University of Miami psychologist Michael McCullough, who found that people who kept a gratitude journal exercised more, experienced fewer health problems, felt better about their lives, were more optimistic and made progress towards personal goals more than those who recorded hassles or neutral life events.

The aim of the website is to take the gratitude journal into the digital age whilst allowing two-way communication that will engage and inspire others.

"Giving thanks is healthy both spiritually and physically. Instead of obsessing about the things we don't like and blaming each other when things don't go our way, we should focus on our blessings and the things that bring us joy," said Garcia.

"What better way to accomplish that than to write God a letter and share it with your friends for support and inspiration."
