Lichfield Cathedral says thank you to people of the city
Lichfield Cathedral will be saying thank you to all those involved in the commercial, voluntary and official life of the city at a special service next month.
The annual Songs for a City service takes place on 4 December at 5:30pm and is the cathedral's way of saying thank you to the people who keep Lichfield moving.
The congregation will be joined by the Cathedral Choir in singing popular Christmas carols.
The city's residents are being asked to nominate a local hero or community champion to attend the carol service.
They may be members of local voluntary organisations or businesses, or someone who goes the extra mile.
The Very Reverend Adrian Dorber, Dean of Lichfield said of the service:
"The cathedral wants to say thank you to all who make Lichfield a special place to live and work in.
"I hope that every sector of the City's economic, voluntary and public life will come and join in this special celebration.

"It is open house for all the voluntary workers, retailers, shop workers, office workers and businesses, professional practices and local agencies who sustain Lichfield in so many ways."
In addition to carols, there will be readings, prayers and a short message.
The service will be followed by mince pies and a non-alcoholic punch, served in the Cathedral crossing.
