Bradford-based national church and home insurance company Congregational & General has announced the appointment of two new board members, Judith Cork and Martin Clarke.

Boasting a wealth of experience from the financial services sector, the duo will join as non-executive directors and add significant strategic input towards the business's ongoing growth.

Cambridge-educated actuary Clarke is currently executive director of financial risk at the Pension Protection Fund and has enjoyed a varied career in retail financial services, having been executive director at Co-operative Financial Services for several years before his current role.

Commenting on his appointment, Clarke said: "I am looking forward to sharing the expertise I have built up over my career to help progress the company. My strengths lie in dealing with complex and technical projects such as the development of new products, which is where I hope to contribute most."

Cork, who runs her own successful business - Judith Cork Consulting - as an independent advisor, is a strategic marketing expert and includes top level roles at Sun Alliance and HBOS amongst her previous experience.

Speaking about her new role, Cork added: "It was extremely flattering to be approached to assist such a forward thinking organisation and I am determined to ensure my skills in financial marketing strategies can enhance and add to the business's existing offering."

Carlo Cavaliere, Congregational's Managing Director, said: "I am delighted to welcome both Martin and Judith on board as I am sure they will make a significant impact to the business and complement the existing talent we already possess.

"We are continually looking for ways in which to enhance our range of products to our customers, as well as developing new ways to attract new business and I am confident that they will be able to help us do just that."
