The Baptist Men’s Movement is calling churches across the UK to take part in the biggest-ever men's breakfast.

The President of the Baptist World Alliance and former general secretary of the Baptist Union of Great Britain, the Rev David Coffey, is encouraging men to take part in the Bigger Breakfast.

“It's a brilliant way for churches to offer exciting ways of reaching men with the Gospel,” he said. “I hope that churches across the Baptist family will get cooking and help make it a record-breaking breakfast."

The Bigger Breakfast initiative invites churches to gather their men together on Saturday 11 October to enjoy a hearty breakfast.

The BMM needs at least 19,000 men taking part to beat the current world record.

The Bigger Breakfast has also been backed by Jonathan Edwards, current general secretary of the Baptist Union of Great Britain.

"Everyone knows that there are far fewer men in our churches than women and so I especially welcome this project,” he said.

"I congratulate the Baptist Men's Movement on this imaginative idea and I hope that it will be a blessing to churches throughout the country – whether or not they have ever head of the Baptist Men's Movement before."

Phil Creighton, who will become the youngest ever president of the Baptist Men’s Movement's next year, is chief organiser of the breakfast.

"We know hundreds of churches have expressed an interest in getting involved, but we want thouands,” he said. “We hope every church will rise to the challenge and be part of this record-breaking attempt."
