God is worthy of all praise, glory and honour. He deserves to be praised and honoured by everything that He has made, including the things in the heavens, in the skies, in the seas, and in the land.

One of the least-mentioned facts, however, is that children, young as they are, can give glory to God, too.

Psalm 8:1-2 says, "O Lord, our Lord, your majestic name fills the earth! Your glory is higher than the heavens. You have taught children and infants to tell of your strength, silencing your enemies and all who oppose you."

Even babies will praise the Lord and tell of His might!

Here are some of the young characters in the Bible who brought glory to the Lord.

1. Paul's nephew

In Acts 23:12-22, we read of a plot that was being made to kill Paul while he was being transported to the high council for trial. This plot was discovered and revealed to Paul by a young man known only as the son of his sister. Although there's no actual mention of the age or reason why the young man was there, we only know that he foiled the evil plans of those who were against Paul, and thus helped in the spread of the gospel to more places and figures of authority.

This story tells us that God can use any young one for His purposes. It might very well be that the young child in your home could be used by the Lord to bring you some good things.

2. Young Isaac

In Genesis 22:1-19, we read the terrifying story of how God told Abraham to offer his one and only son Isaac as a burnt offering. While Abraham was notable for being very obedient to God, Isaac was quite notable, too – for not complaining.

God used Isaac to verify if Abraham did consider Him more important and valuable than his dreams. At the same time, that terrifying moment was a prophetic declaration of how God loved all men: that He would send His Son Jesus to die for all of our sins.

God used Isaac to refine Abraham's heart. Maybe God will use your children to refine yours, too.

3. Young King Joash

King Joash was the youngest King of Judah, and his story can be read in 2 Chronicles 24. Although his reign had an ugly end, his early years as the nation's leader were marked with good things. This was because he listened to Jehoiada, a priest who kept teaching him to do things that were pleasing to the Lord.

However, when Jehoiada died, Joash was persuaded by wicked men to "abandon the Temple of the Lord, the God of their ancestors, and they worshiped Asherah poles and idols instead!" (v. 18).

Sadly, he even ordered the killing of Jehoiada's son.

Joash reminds us that we should build our children up the right way – in the fear of the Lord.
