The upcoming 2017 Jeep compass, that was unveiled at the Los Angeles Auto Show 2016, will be the first Jeep to roll out with Apple's CarPlay. The infotainment system is dubbed as Uconnect 4.0 by Fiat Chrysler during the unveiling of the SUV.

According to 9To5Mac, the infotainment system is already included in other vehicles produced by the US-based auto giant like the Chrysler 300, Dodge Charger, and Dodge Challenger. Now, the company has already incorporated it into its Jeep line, more specifically to the upcoming Compass model, although Apple has not updated its own list of supported vehicles yet.

Owners will then have an option to choose 5.0, 7.0, or 8.4-inch touchscreen displays that will be located in the center console. The driver's instrument cluster also contain a 3.5 or 7-inch LED driver information display (DID). Its steering wheel comes with integrated audio, voice, and cruise control buttons, which helps in keeping the driver's focus on the road ahead.

The 2017 Jeep Compass features a redesigned seven-slot grille at the front that conveys a tougher look, while the rear features a unique looking and slimmer LED taillights. The chrome accents incorporated in its design visually enhances these new features. The trapezoidal wheel arches, common to the Jeep line, are still retained and is helping in achieving a more masculine look.

The 4x2 version of the next generation SUV comes with a 2.0-liter DOHC 16V engine that produces up to 158 horsepower and 141 pound-foot of torque. This comes with a 5-speed manual or the CVT2 automatic transmissions. The fuel economy is rated at 30 mpg on the highway.

The 4x4 variant will have 2.4-liter DOHC I4 World Engine that produces a maximum 172 horsepower and up to 165 pound-foot of torque. It is rated to provide up to 25 mpg on the highway when it is paired with the 6-speed automatic transmission, while when the 27 mpg is paired with the standard 5-speed manual tranny. It is capable of towing up to 2,000 pounds of load when properly equipped.

It is hinted that the 2017 Jeep Compass could be higher than the $27,000 to $35,000 price range of the current model.
