Toyota has just partnered up with GoPro and now, every 2016 Tacoma models will be equipped with mounts for action cams. This partnership is the first for automakers, as reported in Wired.

For those who plan on taking their Tacoma 2016 for a ride on the rough terrains, or even to the nearest grocery stores, the camera mount will surely provide an opportunity for drivers and riders to record their adventures on the road.

Having GoPro action cameras integrated in vehicle accessories is not uncommon, as in Bell Helmets, which also has a camera mount. However, as mentioned, it's the first for cars.

It is not considered an exclusive deal either as it is expected that off-road vehicles will soon feature camera mounts. But, GoPro has not announced any partnership with other companies yet.

According to Day Herald, the 2016 Tacoma belongs to the third generation of Tacomas and is the ninth among smaller trucks that the company has brought to the U.S. since 1964. It appears that midsize truck trends are increasing and are about to become competitive.

The move to partner up with GoPro was done so that Toyota can protect its market share, Bloomberg reported. In addition, the company wants to attract more truck buyers to go for Tacoma, especially those who have a real thirst for off-road adventures.

The company has also observed that increasingly more people attach action cams with the use of suction cups.

Toyota engineers noticed this trend and decided to design the camera mount. GoPro is also considered the most popular choice for adrenaline junkies, so partnering up with them is only appropriate.

The camera mount will be located inside the windshield of the 2016 Toyota Tacoma, beside the rearview mirror.

Surely, this is exciting news for off-road adventurers, but they need to realize that the mount does not come with a GoPro camera — they have to buy it first before they go on capturing their adventures.
